About Me

Family and Consumer Sciences Major

Anticipated graduation: Winter 2016

I will be available for substitute teaching positions in the Fall of 2017 with probable endorsements for FACS, Science and Health.

For the past 15 years, I have been serving the United States of America as a Sailor, Soldier and now as a Warrant Officer in the Army National Guard.  During my time in the military, I attended school, primarily through community colleges, and now at Colorado State University.  When I first started attending classes, I didn’t know what would be my major, but I took classes regardless.

It wasn’t until I was graduating flight school

in 2011 (pictured) that I took a hard look at

what I wanted to do after my retirement from the military.

After some soul-searching, I thought of ways to best invest in others and become more generative with my life.  With that thought, I decided to become a Family and Consumer Sciences teacher.

There are so many different aspects of pedagogy, and I want to learn as much as possible about ways to impart important life skills in a significant way.  I love finding out how to be a teacher who "causes to teach" and am always reading books that help me in this goal.

I find the Middle School ages to be such an important time in young people's lives, as this is the time that they will decide the kind of people they'll become.

I am excited to be in classes that equip me for the classroom and I'm glad to be on this  next adventure!
